Gimpo Airport arrival guide: getting into Seoul

Plan a Gimpo arrival with official metro, bus and taxi information, terminal checks and a practical onward route.

Useful for: tourists, students, business. Information checked 2026-10-29; next editorial review 2026-11-05.

Make sure your flight arrives at Gimpo

Gimpo and Incheon are different airports. Save the airport code GMP with your itinerary and check which terminal your flight uses. Do not follow an Incheon transfer guide simply because your booking says Seoul. If you have a separate onward flight at a different airport, allow time for the airport change and confirm baggage and check-in obligations with the airline.

Prepare the final destination

Keep your accommodation or host’s Korean address offline, along with the closest useful station or stop. A route that looks short on a city map may still involve a transfer and a walk with bags. Check reception hours and a late-arrival contact. When you compare transport, work backward from the address and the time you expect to leave the terminal after collecting luggage.

Compare metro and rail connections

Gimpo has rail and metro connections, but the suitable line and direction depend on your destination. Use the airport’s current public transportation information to identify the station entrance and connection. Compare the final leg, lifts or escalators where relevant, and the service timetable. Do not treat an airport train ticket as an automatic pass for every city journey; verify the ticket or card requirements for each service.

Check airport bus routes

A bus may reduce transfers if an appropriate route serves your destination. Confirm the international or domestic terminal stop, route direction, timetable and current boarding procedure. Different services may use different ticketing rules. Keep the route details readable offline and allow for road congestion. If a particular departure is important, use the current official operator information rather than an old fare table reproduced on another website.

Use clear taxi pickup arrangements

For a taxi, follow the designated terminal signs. For a pre-arranged service, read exactly where the driver meets you, how the operator contacts you and what happens after a delayed flight. Confirm luggage capacity and what the quoted price includes. Never assume a generic Seoul pickup listing applies to Gimpo: the airport selection must match your itinerary before you pay.

Adjust the plan to your purpose

A short visitor may prioritize an easy connection to accommodation; a student may need to reach a campus office during opening hours. Business visitors should leave a sensible buffer before meetings. Long-stay arrivals should avoid treating a first-night route as a complete settlement plan. Build your arrival checklist, compare the relevant guide and keep a backup if the first choice is no longer operating when you land.

Your preparation checklist

  • Confirm GMP and the terminal.
  • Save address and nearest useful station.
  • Check the final service and pickup point.
  • Avoid listings that specify ICN instead of GMP.
